The Good News Journey
The Good News Journey covers relevant subjects confronting Christians today and shares authentic stories of Christians living out their faith in everyday life - from volunteering to full time practice. Through podcasts with guests whose testimonies inspire, we explore what it means to serve the Lord as we are called to do and live with an eternal focus: understanding salvation, walking through sanctification, and discovering the joy of serving others with the gifts God has given each of us. We are building a community that values genuine faith over man's favor, inviting believers who are sitting in the stands to come down to the field, put on the armor of God, and experience a spiritual blessing that comes from serving the Lord, while inviting all to investigate Jesus Christ and the hope that comes from knowing Him intimately.
Our Mission
To communicate to followers of Christ that [1] Jesus Christ will complete the work in us that He has started [Phil. 1:6], [2] that our love would abound [John 13:35], [3] that we may grow in knowledge and discernment [2 Pet. 3:18], [4] that we may live sincere lives as we follow Christ and never bring offense to His name [Psa. 101: 3-4], [5] that we be filled with the fruits of righteousness [James 3:18], [6] that we live our lives and bring glory and praise to God [ 1 Cor. 10:31].
Our Story
Through the leading of the Holy Spirit, three ordinary men, Mark, Don and Jim, who are advanced in their careers as well as their years, were individually led to pursue the direction of God in what is the next chapter of their lives. One was months from business retirement, one was already partially there, and one was still working daily in his business. God brought them together for ongoing conversations, led by a lot of prayer, seeking God's face and direction for each of them individually and as partners in this venture.
It soon became clear that God's plan for Mark, Don and Jim was one of unification in their relationship with each other and in the venture to be called “The Good News Journey”, that being to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ and encourage all of us; Christians, to deepen their faith, and non-believers, to consider accepting the blessings of God by receiving Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.
Today the three of us are obeying God and abiding in the vine as we move forward with The Good News Journey. We believe that God's Plan is perfect and that He has prepared us personally, throughout our lives, for this moment. We look forward to providing testimonies of Christians who live their faith through service to their community and the world utilizing God's gifting to them. We will also discuss relevant current topics in this difficult world and how God, through His word, will have us respond to them.
The Founders
Mark Walton
Mark's background includes over 20 years in radio, tv, film in various capacities and various cities across the country. Mark starred in the 1980's show, “Eye on San Diego” before he moved into financial planning at Morgan Stanley and eventually Wells Fargo Advisors, as his team transitioned over.
Don Mitchell
Don's business background spans over 45 years in commercial real estate, 25 years with CBRE, the largest real estate company in the world, and 18 plus years as a partner with Cresa, the largest real estate firm exclusively representing companies with their real estate needs. Don has also spent over 45 years as a head coach in baseball from youth baseball through high school, retiring from Santa Fe Christian High School in 2015 and most recently consulting with Fellowship of Christian Athletes as they build a faith-based travel baseball program for youths 9 to 14. Don's service to the Lord includes over 10 years as a church elder, including years as Chairman of the elder board at an elder led church in Carlsbad, CA.
Jim Robeson
Jim spent many years in the restaurant business in Coronado, CA before being introduced to Jesus Christ in 1978. He entered Seminary School and transformed his life eventually becoming an associate pastor for over 22 years in a local church in San Diego, CA. Jim has now established an insurance business wherein he focuses on assisting seniors in obtaining Medicare Insurance as he helps them navigate those uncomfortable waters.
